Chicago Nov 9th 1863 T.C.. Durant Esq New York Dr Sir After leaving your office when I was last in N.Y. I went to the house you directed me at on Beaver St. and bought 1 Gal, Madera $ 9.00 and on Gal. Sherry $ 6.00 Case $1.00 . In all $16.00 and gave directions to ship by American Express to the [care?] Turner & Sidway Chicago. The Wine was not forthcoming on my arrival. I waited a few days and then gave the bill to the Express Co to be returned to N.Y. to trace up the package After waiting some time and hearing nothing from N.Y. the office here wrote to the N.Y. office and now have answer that they have mislaid the bill and can do nothing. Now as I have forgoten the address of the Merchants will you do me the favor to get the Express Receipt and send it to me. I wouldnot trouble you but I cannot avoid it. Truly yours L. B. Sidway
