State of North Carolina Union County This Indenture made this the [first?] day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Fifty four, between William P. Muse, of the County of Union aforesaid, of the one part, and Caleb Phifer and George L. Phifer, of the County of Cabarrus and State aforesaid, of the other part, [[?]], The said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of One Thousand Dollars to the said party of the first part in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath Bargained and Sold, [[?]] and [[?]], and by these presents doth Bargain and Sell, [[?]] and [[?]] with the said party of the second part, his and even of their Heirs and afsigns, forever, all the [[double underscore]] Mines, Minerals [[/double underscore]] and [[double underscore]] Mineral [[/double underscore]] interests, in, to and upon all that tract, piece and parcel of land, situate, lying and being in said county of Union, on the Waters of Duck Creek, adjoining the Lands of Jacob [[Lory?]], Sutton Williams and others, and Bounded as follows, Beginning at a stake on formerly [[Russells?]] line, now [[Bancum's?]], thence with his line South 24 East [[70? or 711?]] poles two small Black Oak, thence South 20 West 118 poles to a pine, thence North 81 West 120 poles to a post-oak, thence North 9 East 811 poles to a large pine, thence North 85 West [[40? or 411?]] poles to a stake, thence North [[10? or 111?]] W. 24 poles to a Black Oak in the [[old?]] line, thence with the division line of the Mary Harris tract North [[80? or 811?]] East 52 poles to a pine, thence South 74 East 54 poles to a post-oak, thence South [[40? or 411?]] East 8 poles to a post-oak near the creek thence North 15 East 14 poles crofsing the creek, to a White oak on the Bank of the Creek, thence with the
