This indenture, made this the 6th day of March in the Year Eighteen Hundred and Fifty Four between William P. Muse of the County of Union and State of North Carolina of the one part, and Thomas C. Durant Trustee of his Associate of the county & New York and State of New York of the other part: WITNESSSETH, That the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred & Fifty Dollars, to the said party of the first part in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath sold and conveyed, and doth hereby sell and convey to the said party of the second part ALL THAT TRACT OR PARCEL OF LAND, lying in the County of Union and State of North Carolina known as the Alexander land bounded as follows, to wit: Beginning at a pine stump Jacobs Longs Coroner south 4 West 86 Poles to two Black Oaks Longs coroner thence South 62 West 60 Poles to a stake on Sd. Longs line thence South 85 East 130 Poles to a stake on the Alexander line Thence with Division line North 20 West 120 Poles to a Black Oak, Thence North 81 west 38 Poles to the Beginning containing Fifty Acres more or less with a reserve of the mineral interest being Previously transferred with ways woods & Waters necessary for Mining Purposes - To have and to hold the same with the appurtenances thereunto belonging to Thomas C. Durant Trustee for himself the said party of the second part their Heirs and Assigns forever. And the said party of the first part, for the consideration aforesaid, doth hereby covenant and agree to WARRANT and DEFEND the premises aforesaid, to the said part of the second part Their Executors, Administrators and Assigns forever against the claim and entry of all persons whatsoever, and Part 1st doth further covenant, that he seized of the premises in fee simple, and hath power to make and convey such an estate by this Indenture, and hath done the same by these presents, to the said Thomas C Durant Trustee for himself & Associates Their Executors Administrators, IN WITNESS WHEREOF, The said party of the first part, hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.
