Correspondence on Lemmond Mine, Union County, North Carolina, part 1, 1854-1894

We have selected a fine spot for our ??? a
nice slope to carry every thing off the Mill
House will be 40 feet by 30. The Wheel will be
a 15 foot Wheel and 4 feet on the face, we shall have 
2 1/2 feet Head. When Capt (?) Palmer comes we may
change our plans. The Place (?) will cost about 4500
We are not taken out any ore at the mine
but am in hope(s?) we shall be in a few days(?)
We struck vein 13 yesterday, it shows in the pan
good(?) , I went down the shaft, but the vein was
struck in one corner and I could not tell much
about it, but we can tell ??? what size it is
and all about it. (I have got a) I have
got about 8000 feet of Lumber on the ground
and ??? at the Mill. I am going ahead(?) the 
first of the week getting timber for the
Building and sills(?) for the Place(?)
When(?) we commence, I shall pat(?) ??? enough
on so as to arive(?) is through fast, if I can get(?)
???, The weather is Hot today(?)
