Whereas, I Charles W. Durant, of the City County and State of New York, am the owner and holder of a certain [Induction?] of Mortgage, bearing date the Sixth day of July. one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven executed by Robert Taylor and Emily his wife to Thomas [G?] Durant upon certain lauds and [promises?] in Union County in the State of North Carolina to secure the payment of the sum of Twenty three thousand one hundred and seventy dollars, + interest, and which has been duly assigned by the said Thomas [G?] Durant to me, and Whereas, I am about to [proceed?] to foreclose said Mortgage, and Hugh Doroning of said County of Union, [illegible] to [illegible] the option to purchase the same or to purchase from me the lauds and promises [covered?] thereby in case I shall acquire title to the same through such foreclosure as hereinafter stated. Now Therefore, in consideration of the sum of one dollar lawfull money of the United States to me in hand paid by the said Hugh Doroning, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, I do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Doroning, his representations and assigns, that in case I shall proceed with foreclosure of said Mortgage and the said
