Mc Cullock Mine xmas day 1854 My dear Doctor, A happy xmas or a merry xmas and happy new year to you your dear wife and pretty little children Inclosed is a letter which has been forwarded to me from New York. I reached this place on Thursday last--since Mr. Buckly returned to New York the mine has run in debt a further sum of $1200 & odd this Mr. Rodman drew for before my arrival. During the short time that I have been here I have been cutting and contriving - selecting unproductive branches for lopping off - & lopping off - in all of which I know that I am proceeding with praiseworthy caution First then as we had to supply the Lindsay stamps with wood
