getting anxious you will think right in so far as the bunch of ore is covering we have no right (from the data by which we calculate.) to expect it until the ground to be broken is broken, exclusive of that prospect this ungenerous vein gives not a speck of ore. not a speck during the progress towards the desired point - The vein lives every where. in the (ends?) in the shaft every where a great poverty stricken monster. it is 5 feet wide at the bottom of the shaft. not a speck of ore although we have the most beautiful slate and the other accompanyments of ore when it occurs in the mine. The shaft is going down rapidly 12 men in it.  I shall soon be down for another level but it will be no good to drive it unless the big bunch makes down. no other chance but to sink on for 100 or 200 feet deeper. and confirm the operations to that -  a blacker looking concern you cannot find I fell visions for my mining reputation - but that is selfish and sorrow for the fate of the company as no good. better sink the shaft - I have not lost hope because common sense tells me that we shall get
