Saving...
something in time to save us. but it is disheartening to see such a splendid system of trying this mine so poorly rewarded. nothing. nothing. nothing. to pay as we go along. nothing but a prospect. & then possibly disappointment - probably not. the next two months will certainly tell. I say two months because the ore may have shifted 20 - 50 or 100 feet either north or south - not north because we are within 20 ft of it - keep up their spirits by giving them a common sense view of the position of things ---- now for getting out of Guilford County & North Carolina without loss where is the resourse if the living fail - I am pretty well satisfied that if the Lindsey property can be concentrated & handled by one individual that that mine will make one safe from loss. I shall use every exertion so to get hold of it. failing to hear from you I shall on getting the claims next week take the course which may be deemed the proper one to accomplish the object. I am dear Doctor savage as a bear Yours truly W[illegible] Palmer
