Know all Men by these Presents, that I David P Whedon of the state and city of New York am held and firmly bound unto Thomas C Durant of the same place. In the sum of Five Thousand Dollars, lawful money of the United States of America, to be paid to the said party of the second part his executors, administrators or assigns: For which payment, well and truly to be made, I bind myself my heirs, executors and administrators, _____ firmly by these presents sealed with my seal. Dated the Sixth day of July one thousand eight hundred and fifty eight. 
The condition of the above obligation is such, that if the above bounden David P Whedon heirs, executors or administrators, shall well and truly pay, or cause to be paid unto the above named Thomas C Durant his executors, administrators or assigns, the just and full sum of Two Thousand five hundred dollars on the first day of January which will be in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine and the interest thereon, to be computed from the first day of July 1858 at and after the rate of Six per cent per annum, and to be paid at maturity without any fraud or other delay, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
And it is hereby expressly agreed, that should any default be made in the payment of the said interest, or of any part thereof, on any day whereon
