John L Coffin Oct 12, 1875 I hope - he died on the 5th inst at Ems, Prussia - had been sick there for 5 or 6 weeks - disease gangrene, a [mortification?] of the lower extremeties - his body is now on the way here for burial - He was engaged in London in managing the Eureka Gold [Ing?] Co. and expected to have come home last month - His prospects for making money were said to have been very good, but his decease has probably ended them - He left no business connection in Wisconsin - His family are at Duluth and are supposed to be left comfortably off - His life was insured for $20.000. for the benefit of his family - I give you all these particulars knowing that the Doctor will be interested, as well as yourself - Yours truly Jno. L. Coffin
