Common Cake. 6 oz: of Butter well rubbed into a lb of Flour, 3 eggs beat up with a Spoon full of new yeast 1/2 pint of new milk warmed. Strain the yeast and eggs through a seive on to the flour then add the milk. Let it rise well for an hour or two by the fire, then add 1/4 lb [?] lump sugar and currant or Caraway seeds. Beat it up well Let it stand and rise again. Then put it into the Pan and let it rise again a quarter or an hour before putting it into the oven.
