5 [left margin] 77 Chinese Method of rendering Cloth water-proof To one ounce of white wax, melted, add one quart of Spirits of Turpentine which when thoroughly mixed & cold stir the Cloth in, and hang it up to dry. By this cheap & easy method, muslin, as well as the Strongest Cloths, will be rendered impenetrable to the hardest rain, without the pores being filled up, or any injury done, when the cloth is coloured Ammonia is recommended by Dr. Macculloch for cleaning gold bracelets & jewelry - [left margin] 74 Take the leaves of Ivory with which you form your Tablets and have thoroughly cleaned them, rub over them some juice of Garlic this will take off that greasiness which is generally complained of.
