10 [left margin] 93 To make a common Drink for a person with a Sore Throat Take two ounces of Turkey figs the like quantity of raisins of the Sun, & cut them small; two ounces of French or pearl Barley, boiled in three pints of spring Water till it comes to a quart, and then strain it through a Sieve. Boil this over a gentle Fire, and take it warm [left margin] 9 To make a durable Ink, that has been used for nearly half a Century To three pints of Water, add three pints of white wine Vinegar, fifteen ounces of blue Galls slightly bruised; let these stand near a fire for six Days; then, put in six ounces of Copperas and seven ounces of Gum arabic finely powdered; permit the whole to remain near the Fire for six Days more & be frequently stirred up; strain the liquor through a fine Cloth & bottle it up for use - [left margin] 13 To preserve Game Game covered with Charcoal, may be kept Six Weeks, in a hot Season, without undergoing the smallest change [left margin] 3 A Varnish for Toilet Boxes, Cases, Fans &c Dissolve two ounce of Gum mastick and eight ounces of Gum Sandarach in a quart of Alkohol; then add four ounces of Venice turpentine [left margin] 7 To increase the Force of Gunpowder D. Braine says, three ounces of pulverised quicklime berry added to one pound of Gunpowder, the force of it is augmented one third; shake the whole together till the white colour of the [illegible] disappears
