Sunday January 9th 1881 It took us nearly all day to do the work. I gave Hattie's room a good cleaning up and brought out a lot of the empty bottles. We did not have supper till after church and while the boys were gone I went up in John Helmicks room and wrote a letter to Charlie and to Esther Thurber. Monday January 10th 1881 Lee went after Ella this forenoon I had the morning work done but she was in time to help with the dinner. I knit most of the afternoon and evening and finished one of Lees mittens. Tuesday January 11th 1881 I cleaned up the house this morning and helped put the clothes in the garret that Ella washed. In the afternoon Mother and Ella worked in the lard and I sat in the room with Hattie and knit I nearly finished Lee's other mitten. Weather cold and wintry.
