Wednesday January 12th 1881 It had moderated very much and was warm enough today to thaw and spoil the sleighing. I helped some with the work and put in my spare time sewing and knitting Hattie continues to improve. Thursday January 13th 1881 I was busy about the house-work all the forenoon and sewed all the afternoon and evening on mending I was doing. Hattie walked out to the sitting room this afternoon. Weather colder than yesterday. Friday January 14th 1881 We washed again this forenoon. I worked all the afternoon and evening on a dressing gown for Otto that I succeeded in finishing. Weather threatens snow. Saturday January 15th 1881 I was busy about the work and the baking till noon. I worked the afternoon and evening making May an apron. It snowed all day. a heavy fall of snow
