Wednesday August 31st 1881 While Bridget washed the carpet I was busy cleaning out ward-robes and putting things in their place. We then went to work and cleaned my room and Lee's before night. I sewed some on the carpet that had been washed in the morning. I had a letter from Kate and Charlie none of the folks invited can come. I wrote a line to Charlie tonight. Thursday September 1st 1881 We worked all day at the house cleaning and nearly finished the upper story and the two halls and stairs Lee went to the depot to meet Mr Burton who came in from the West. Father did not come from the farm tonight Mother was over town this forenoon and in the afternoon went down to Mrs Sperrys to a tea party. Weather very warm indeed.
