To make milk Punch. Take two quarts of milk, with a stick of cinnamon - Beat two eggs with enough of sugar to form a thick paste, & nearly a Pint of Rum, add a tea spoonful of grated Nutmeg - To make the whole complete - add a little [illegible] with Some bitter - Almonds, - after mixing them well pour the milk on hot and stir the whole thoroughly - Revd Lorrain Smith For dying fishing Lines Brown. - Boil 1/4 lb of Alum [pulv'd?] till it be dissolved add 1 lb of Walnut tree bark from the branches - when the Sap is up - boil yem one hour - after skimming & letting it stand ten minutes - put in the materials you wish to discolour - Stirring for about a minute - not longer, as the will become too dark & liable to rot - Logwood Substituted for walnut, will dye blueish - but best for this purpose is ye following - Boil about 4 inches [sq?] of green baize cloth - and 1/4 lb of Alum, in 3 pints of soft water slowly for half an hour - let it stand till nearly cold, then put in you gut or hair for an hour - If the colour is too bright a green give it a bluish cast by rubbing it some with Ink - Mr. Lasette -
