For blacking Ivory Black 2 oz Gum Arabic dissolved in Water 1 oz Lump Sugar 2 oz Whites of two Eggs - The whole to be mixed in a pint & a half of Porte. Gen Herman [Maguire?] To make a half a pint of Lavender water Spirits of Wine rectified 1/2 Pint Lavender oil of 1 Dr. Essence of Bergamot 1 Dr. Musk 1/2 gr. Essence of Amber grease 3 drops Mrs. Harries To dye Black Ground Logwood well boiled in a Bag, a very small quantity of Copperas, & roche Alum - The logwood must be taken out before the Copperas & Alum are put in and a drop of old wine must be added - Doleforgan
