20 For a Sore Throat Half a lb of figs put in a quart of Spring Water let them simmer till more than half is wasted then take a large lemon and cut it in slices and between every piece put some brown sugar Candy and let it stand before the fire to roast then strain the figs off put the juice of the Lemon into it and the Throat should be gargled with it warm 21 For a Dropsy Take a lb of Burdock root or if dry half a pound cut not that whereon the Burs grows Slice it and boil it in five pints of Water till reduced to half the quantity
