salt, put as much clivers as the lard well moisten, simmer them together over a slow fire. stirring it till it begins to look a little brown, then strain it through a linen cloth & when cold take off the ointment from the water, which will be found at the bottom. The bruised leaves being applied to often stay the abundance of blood issuing from the wound. Observe to keep the wound clean and the body open and drink the juice at least a week be=fore the ointment is applied. I had before observed that laying the clivers on the wound was thought to be of great use, but they heal the part prodigiously, therefore when that is the case they should not be applied too frequently as it would not only be painful, but will heal too fast. 71 Consumption & Vartons. Take half the Liver lights and Part of a Calf as many young turnips as a Gallon of Water will cool & boil it till it comes to a Quart
