Typhus Fever Yeast was at one time in high repute as an Antiseptic in Putrid Fevers and is worthy of some confidence One of the best modes of giving the article is in an infusion of Malt - a combination from which Dr Haggarth says he has derived great advantage in the treatment of these dreadful Fevers. A Teaspoonful of Yeast is mixed with a pint of strong Wort - and the vessel then covered close and placed near a fire. In less than an hour it is covered with a white Cap of Yeast & should be drank in that state One or two Pints of this mixture must be taken in divided Doses during the day. If good Wort cannot be got from the Brewer, the Patients friend may make by pouring a little more than 2 pints of hot water on two pints of Malt which after it has stood covered for two hours should be strained off for use. The water should not be poured on the Malt boiling but be allowed to cool for a few minutes. Mrs. Willis
