Lambswool Habit Shirt - A. K. L. 3 pins required Put on 68 stitches & knit 8 rows plain then 70 rows double knitting, keeping 6 stitches at each end of the row for the border which is common knitting - these 78 rows form the back - then knit 24 stitches & leave the others on a third pin (6 for the border & 18 double knitting) 16 rows with the 24 stitches form the shoulderstrap & when you have knit the last row cast on 26 more stitches of which 20 will be double & 6 for the border in front - After the stitches are cast on the first row must be plain till you return to the double knitting which is knit as before. Then knit 68 rows keeping a border at each end - 8 rows plain & fasten off which completes the first front. The other side is knit in the same manner leaving 20 stitches to form the neck & taking care to fasten the Lambswool in at the neck not at the border or the rows will be irregular - When the two fronts are completed begin the collar - Take up the 26 stitches at the top of first front 8 stitches of the shoulderstrap being the last stitch of every row, then the 20 left on a third needle, the 8 stitches of other shoulderstrap & the 26 stitches of the other front, making 88 stitches - knit 12 rows plain, then fasten off the 12 first stitches & begin double knitting till you have only 12 stitches at the end of the pin which must be knit plain - fasten these off in the next row and knit 10 rows double knitting without border then 10 rows plain lessening at the beginning of every row & fasten off for the last time
