Monday August 31st 1891 We went down to Floras for dinner and took Olive Hough with us. We called on Mrs Davidson and Jennie Culbertson on our way back. After leaving Olives We got Carl in and Mr & Mrs Duncan took the other horse home and we all went to the cemetery. It was after six oclock when we got back. Spent the evening at home. a letter from Mother. Tuesday September 1st 1891 I spent part of the forenoon with Mrs Boher. After dinner Will took Lizzie, Mrs Sheeley, and myself out calling among the Shurts families. We spent a very nice afternoon. Joe Duncan got back and him and Mattie were at Father Duncans for supper. We decided to stay till Thursday. Wednesday September 2nd 1891 I called at Mrs Coleans and on Hurtie McKinstrys in the forenoon. After dinner Will took me over to see Vene again and to bid the Woolf family good bye. We got back about four oclock in time to escape a heavy shower. Lizzie had a friend come on the eight oclock train tonight. I got our trunk all packed before supper. Thursday September 3rd 1891 We started from Delavan this morning. There were quite a number of our friends there to say good bye. We only had time to change cars in Peoria. We met Birdie Harris at the depot in Rock Island. After talking with her for a little time we came across the river on the boat and up to Helmichs. I went to see Mr Hoover about a girl but made no definate arrangements. We took supper with the Helmichs and started home at eight oclock. Got here at eleven found Johnson at the depot and Mother still up when we came home. We had a splendid visit and it done me so much good. Friday September 4th 1891 I got my trunk unpacked and my washing done by noon. Will hitched the black team to the Surry and took Mother and I to town to spend the afternoon. I was home all the evening. very pleasant weather.
