February, Wednesday 19, 1862. It snowed all last night and still continues to fall rapidly this morning we received the joyfull news last evening of the capture of Ft. Donaldson on Monday Last at nine O Clock by the Federal forces under General Grant They took from 15 to 20 Thousand Prisoners and a great many stores and ammunitions Our Citizens have met this morning and Contributed 170, dollars to send 2 Phisicians to Ft. Donaldson to take care of the sick and wounded. Doc. McClelland and Doc Teas I believe are the two selected. we are now looking for another mail I suppose we will hear some sad news I kind of Hate to Hear it too if will be sad news to some people.
