May, THURSDAY, 1, 1862. This is a very nice day but the wind blows very Cold I think we must have another storm before sumer commences It is so Cold the grass does not grow very fast the season is very backward Indeed Unkle Dan went out to collect [some?] yesterday and returned to day he says He had considerable of [fun?] at least He appears very much tickled with the Duck Creek people. The mail Just arrived and the news of the capture of N.O. is confirmed, this has been a very dull day in the way of selling goods Johnathan Black and I were out calling last night and I feel very sleepy this evening.
