May THURSDAY, 8, 1862. This is a very pleasant day the weather is so fine I would like to take a ride and see the country I wrote a letter to my Father we are not selling many goods to day there are not a great many people in Town I suppose the Farmers are planting their corn. The mail brought news of another Battle in Virginia it resulted in favor of the Federal Troops I think that secession is about played out I have not been calling this week and Jonathan is at Chicago buying goods when He comes Home we will make them [git?]
