May, FRIDAY, 9, 1862. This is a very pleasant morning and so quiet no noise or Clamor on the streets but I fancy it will rain soon Iff it does not the Wheat will not grow any. The day has grown to be exceedingly warm we have a very good trade to day better than I expected this morning the mail has just came in but I have not heard any news yet no war news to day of any consequence the evening is more pleasant not quite so warm as Jonathan came home to day and I have not been out calling for some time I think we will go out to night
