August, FRIDAY, 22, 1862. This is a very nice day but a very poor day for recruits I think the rest of the men that go to this war will have to be Drafted. John starts for the Seat of War next monday. Iff we dont get up our comp I believe I will stand the Draft. Mr Burgess left with his Company to day. there are three more companys awaiting orders, to leave, I wish I was at home in Ohio I would enlist there in prefference to any other place. I have not heard from home for some time, but I presume they are all well or they would have written,
