August, MONDAY, 25, 1862. This has been a mighty pretty day but very warm a great many men lift for the war to day all going to Old Regiments among the rest our John He is only 17 years old but very stout and I think He will stand the trip as well as any of them, I should have liked to gone along Iff I thought I could stand it but it is no use talking. I have been over to the Room this morning getting my Beauty taken to give to some of the Ladies before I go to war, I will have to send it by mail for they all live at a distance. the Companys are still leaving for war daily.
