Monday July 18th,,1864 Lay just crossed the River till 10 A.M. started out and marched about 3 miles halted and formed a line of Battle and advanced about two miles but did not find any of the Enemy, halted and lay all night. Tuesday July 19th,,1864 Started out at 8 A.M. and marched slowly about two miles found the Enemy and formed a line and halted, advanced just before sundown and built breastworks lay quiet all night. Wednesday July 20th,,1864 The Enemy pickets fell back a little night and we advanced about three P.M. the Enemy massed and assaulted us in heavy force, but did not drive us back any. a very desperate fight, but the Enemy was repulsed in several charges, with great loss, the loss in our Regiment one Killed and five wounded. the action closed at dark the Enemy withdrew and we built breastworks, all quiet through the night, very warm today. Thursday July 21st,, Lay quiet all day and night, some rain today. Friday July 22nd,, 1864 The Enemy fell back last night leaving a very strong line of works we advanced to near Atlanta or in shelling distance and found the (Diagonally, below mid-page:-) Peach Fall Creek [J 14th?]
