Enemy in strong works. we built breastworks again today. Very heavy fighting on the left today. Maj. Gen. Mcpherson reported Killed all quiet in our front except picket firing and some canonaiding very warm today. after dark the Enemy make a demonstration in our front and try to drive in the Skirmishers, but not any attact Saturday July 23d,, 1864. heavy canonaiding all day but not much musketry, lay in our breastworks Sunday July 24th,, 1864 Heavy canonaiding all day. wrote a letter home to Mother. Monday July 25th,, 1864 Some canonaiding today we commenced to build some works in advance about sixty rods. Tuesday July 26th,,/64 Building works in advance today, I go on picket tonight some canonaiding today. and some skirmishing Wednesday July 27th,, 1864 Received a letter from Milo Darling. The Regiment moved over into the advanced works today, some Skirmishing today and some canonaiding. Thursday July 28th,, Lay in the works all day advanced our Skirmishers some today. Heavy fighting on the by the Army of the Tennessee under Gen Howard Friday July 29th,, 1864 Lay quiet all day in Camp advanced the picket some today. Saturday July 30th,, 1864 Nothing of importance going on today Some Canonaiding today. Sunday July 31st,, Everything going on well around Atlanta very warm today, and very quiet. I done my washing today.
