Monday August 1st,,1864 Some canonaiding today and continual skirmishing all of the time very warm. Tuesday Aug 2d,,1864 Canonaiding today but generaly quiet some skirmishing going on. Wednesday Aug 3d,,1864 Mr Moore comes into our lines from a Rebel prison where he saw Deloss Darling. I imediately went and saw him and wrote home all the particulars on the fourth. Thursday Aug,,4th,,1864 Sent my letter to Mother this moring and done my washing this A.M. Orders to remain in Camp all the time this P.M. while an important movement is going on on the right, hard fighting on the right this P.M. and Evening. Friday Aug 5th,,1864 canonaiding and the usual picket firing today but not any hard fighting as I heard of yet. warm with some rain today Saturday Aug 6th,,1864 All quiet till towards night then heavy canonaiding along the line with heavy Skirmishing a thunder Storm towards night and in the Evening all quiet through the Evening and night Rec'd. a letter from Mother. Sunday Aug 7th,,1864 Canonaiding along the line today with light Skirmishing Monday Aug 8th,,1864 All as usual today the heavy Batteries shelling Atlanta every day now. 'Wrote to John today. Tuesday Aug 9th,,1864 All as usual this day some shelling mostly from our Batteries shelling the City. Wednesday Aug 10th Some canonaiding today with skirmishing all along the line. Rec'd,, a letter from Ettie. G. today.
