occupy the City Saturday Sept 3d,,1864 A part of the Hospt gone to Atlanta today rainy, rainy. Wrote to Mother today Sunday Sept,,4th,, All of the Hospt packed up and going to Atlanta today. I get my things carried and go a foot got very tired going to the City, prisoners arrive in large numbers from the front, the Army reported to be 25 miles from here. Monday Sept,,5th,,1864 Took a walk over and saw the cars destroyed by the Enemy loaded with shot and shell, four trains burned all laden, ocupy the old fair ground Hospital left by the Rebs with about 40 of their own sick and wounded Soldiers. Tuesday Sept,,5th,,64 Went over to the Regt and got a letter from Lyb. rainy today very warm. think some of going to the Regt in a few days. Wednesday Sept 7th.1864 'Went down to the city and some paper and envelopes pleasant and all quiet today Thursday Sept. 8th Pleasant today all passes off quiet warm days and cold nights now. Wrote to Libbie today Friday Sept 9th,,1864 all passes of quiet today think some of going to the Regt.. tomorrow warm days. Saturday Sep,,10th,,1864 I go to the regt today warm and cool nights yet. go down to the city in the A.M. and get me an account Book for sixty cents. Sunday Sept,,11th,,1864 Sit around till about noon and I am informed that I am detailed as commissary Serg't of the regiment and move over with (Vertically, from bottom right:-) the Quarter Master to start.
