Camp Wayne June 2 1861 Mrs Sarah Davis. Dear Wife Again I take up my pen to address you, and I suppose you begin to think it a long time between letters but I have been unable to write sooner as I have had the rheumatism in my right hand and arm and this is the first that I have attemted to write for over a week My hand swelled badly for several days so that I had to carry it in a sling but the swelling has entirely subsided but my arm is still weak but getting well. On Monday night last I took verry sick in the night with sickness and pain in the head but the Dr came and gave me relief in a few minutes so that I went to sleep and by morning was much better. Mother and Newton was here here all day on tuesday and are both well and say they are getting along all right and that you need not have any trouble but what all will be right at home. There is considerable trouble with colds and coughfs in camp for the last week but it is subsiding now. There is two of our Company in the Hospital Wm. Johnson has been there One week with the Measels and has been verry bad but is now getting better. James Johns went yesterday with affection of the lungs and is quite sick and will have a
