Liberty, January 9, /62 Dear Sir, Yesterday I received several letters from Luther, in one of which he states that he is without Blankets, having had them stolen from him at Louisville. Can it be possible that he has had to do without any during this time! Has the Commissary Department no blankets? What has become of the blankets that was in the box you took along with you? nearly all of which was begged by Mrs. Beaver. Were they given only to the sick, or some drunken thieving official to appropriate to their own benefit. I presume you delivered them according to order, I have no doubt of it. I do not wish to infer that you would do anything wrong in regard to the donations, but I have not the same confidence in some of the infernal mean appointees of Old Abe or Gov. Morton.
