it has been increased at least 40,000 since then. Our Brigade has been moveing about from one place to another stopping a day here and a day there but near off the battle field ever since the battle until yesterday we cleared off a beautiful camp ground near the extream left of the battle field and about 2 miles from the river where we shall stay at least 2 weeks if nothing unusual take place You think perhapse I might wright more concering the battle so I will say that you can get far better descriptions from news paper correspondents than what I am capable of writing. The general health of the Regt is good only nearly evry man in the Regt has a Diahroea owing no doubt to the water which is strongly impregnated with Iron Ore which is plenty all over the ground. Cap Patterson rejoined us 4 days since therefore I do not expect so laborious a time for awhile as I have had for the last month, The weather is most beautiful and has been so for about 3 days but prior to that it had been verry rainy for some time. I begin to look for a letter from you again with considerable impatience as the time begins to seem long, The money I spoke of sending you I will send by Express to Clarks Hill in care of your father. Ever since I have been writing this there has been considerable of cannonadeing on our extream right lines which we have just heard was caused by McCooks division skirmishing with the advance posts of the enemy A battle may take place any day but it is not expected but if such should be the case you may expect to hear of the 15th being among them that are there. I wrote mother a letter a few days since also one to Ferman covering 2 sheets of this sized paper I intended it for to do the whole relationship for awhile at least For the present I must close by requesting you to give my regard to all enquireing friend if any such I have. Kiss the children for me and tell Orrilla she must write to me. Your affectionate husband A.F. Davis
