ter over the country and bother us in that way but even in that they will soon wear themselves out, and be obliged to acknowledge the supremacy of the Stars and Stripes in the end. I am much pained to see so much of the Nigger in the Halls of Congress as there is, and I believe that there are Abolitionest in Congress now who are doing as much towards prolonging the war as Jeff Davis is doing himsef and I could willingly see them both hung on the same scaffold. I say for the present let the Nigger alone and attend to the wants of the nation and the suppression of the Rebelion, I wrote a letter to mother a few days since in which I sent word for her to get me 3 or 4 of the fine flannel shirts such as we Saw at Mr Adams last fall and send them to me by Sam Maze who is at Liberty now I sent to her because that was the only chance I knew of getting them to me, If Sam Starts back before She gets the letter. and we remain here for some time I will have them sent by Express. I will know as soon as I can and let you know whether I get them or not. It is impossible to get my white shirts washed therefore I must get flannel. I saw a letter from John Mullin from Billingsville to Jim Mullin today. He give no news only that all of Billingsville and more too have joined the church. I will give you the names that he sends which he says is only a part of them. Ezra Bullard Abe Rose, Bill Bets Abe Dubois & Wife, Jim Finch & Wife Lizzie Ratliff Em Rose Nancy Cokerham Kate Stearns Jo Roarks wife John Bells wife, Mary Carr Maria Stearns Rachel Gage &c. Wont some of them make good christion. We have just received Orders to go on picket therefore I wll have to close for this time. I will write again in 2 or 3 days. Give my respects to all. You say in you letter that if you leave your Father & Mother will have but one of their children left with them and that is Hat. What has become of Permelia. Hereafter direct to East Port, Missippi until further orders. Send me 8 or 10 Stamps as my suppy is getting low and I do not want to get out, Write often as you Can and tell me when you are going home if you have not already went. Kiss the children for me. your affectionate husband A. F. Davis
