Wartrace Tenn. July 24 '62 Mrs. Sarah Davis Dear Sally I am not dead. neither am I a prisoner, but in good health. hoping this will find you the same. The last letter I received from you was written the 2nd of July. I received it 2 weeks last Saturday and intended to answer it on sunday afternoon but while we ware eating dinner on sunday we received orders to march and at 4 oclock ware on our way towards Huntsville which place we reached monday morning at 8 oclock. We remained there until 4 oclock in the evening and, received orders to be put on half rations and to proceed on our march northward and by 10 oclock Wednesday night we ware in Shelbyville Tenn, 85 miles from Mooresville Alabama
