and burned 3 more important bridges so we are again cut off fore some time of both mail and provision but then we will not go hungry. We have to be very watchful here for fear of being surprised. We picked very Strong and the men never take off their clothes or arms therefore we are always ready We have pressed 20 Slaves into service who belong to the planters in the neighborhood and have them cutting timber for to protect us from the rebels. We are moveing our camp this morning and I cannot get ink to write, so I write in a hurry with a pencil There is a Negro who cooks for Sole Fry who is Starting home and is going immediately and I send this by him I have material on hand for a long letter which I will write as soon as I can get a chance send it Write often and I will get some of your letters if not all. Still direct to Woods division and Send to Wartrace Tennessee until further orders Good bye for this time Your affectionate husband A. F. Davis
