5 left he borrowed all the money he could get of any one and if he was here now it would take all the wages that would be due him for 5 or 6 months to pay the debts that he ows in the Regiment If a man is honestly taken prisoner and is paroled he is respected as a Soldier fully as well as though he had not been taken but one who makes the parole himself or puts himself purposely in the way to be taken and paroled is looked upon by his comrades as a Deserter and is considered such by the authorities, and Bud Thatcher is reported and his name sent to the Secretary of War as such. Therefore the best thing he can do is to go double quick to the proper authoraties at Camp Chase Ohio and Straighten up the charges and als get his Parole countersigned by Gen Buell, for without his signature they are null and void, had a man 50 of them You say he reported me in a bad Situation on account of my hearing. I am to a certain extent deaf but not as bad as he represents and am not so bad as I was when I left home last December. You wanted to know the truth of it
