OFFICE OF THE AMERICAN EXPRESS CO. Louisville Ky Sep 29, 1862. Mrs. Sarah Davis Dear Wife Enclosed I send you $110.00 (One hundred and ten) which is all I can Send this time as we only drew 2 months pay today and I have been without money so long that I have borrowed some and have to buy some clothing and hereafter we have to pay for our provision as we get it therefore I have to Keep more on hand than usual. We may get 2 more months pay in a few days and if we do I will send you more. I am well Jo Macy is Sick at Hospital no 7 in Louisville John Macy is at Nashville Jim Dalzell had his sentence read yesterday. He has to serve the rest of the enlistment in the military prison at Newport Ky with ball and chain to his leg and looses all his pay and bounty from the goverment I am looking for my box from home evry day.
