Tell Parmelia I am much obliged for the ballad she sent me. Give my compliments to Lew. Osborn. How is it about the deserters as we call them. Are there any in the neighborhood now. The Bugles are now Sounding lights out so I must close Soon. The weather is still fine and the roads dusty but I think it will rain soon. We are all hoping for rain to raise the river for we are fearful that the Rebs will cut the rail road and by that means Stop our grub which does not suit a Soldier. Write as often as you can As ever your loving husband A. F. Davis
