[illegible] life that we have cased to wonder at anything that take place. The health of the Regt is most excellent and no patients in the hospital belonging to the Regt. There is considerable hard feeling among the boys who went home or remained behind at Louisville for the reason that the Paymaster will not pay theim anything. At the first muster after they returned they were reported on the rolls as haveing been absent so many days without leave and on the strength of their remarks he will not pay them until he gets further orders from some higher authority A communication was sent to Gen Rosecrans yesterday in regard to the matter but we have not heard from it yet but I think it we be satisfactorially arranged. Some three weeks since Gen Rosecrans issued an order that five private one Sergt & one Corpl out of each company in his army has to be selected by a vote
