1 officer killed and 28 wounded. The Rebs tried to charge on and take his cannon but they opened on them with grape shot when at short range and mowed them down by the dozen hence so many of them killed and wounded I think things now look cheering and I think we will whip a Stop to the war before the summer is over, Enclosed I send Jo Mullers picture which he sends to the children as he never forgets them and does not want them to forget him. He wants to know if Wm Ming Still lives in Liberty. he left his trunk & clothing with them when he enlisted and he is somewhat uneasy about them. We have not had any rain here for over a week consequently the roads are dry. The weather for the last 3 days is cold raw and windy We had another grand review a few days ago by Gen Rosecrans and it was the finest Military display that I ever saw and he has an army now under his command of which he may justly feel proud to command No more this time but write soon and oblige Your loveing husband A.F.Davis
