We have been looking for an attact here all the time for several days as the enemy are said to be in strong force immediately in our front. but how true it is I cannot say I hardly think they will make the attempt on us here for we are well prepared for them, and just here I will say that if ever they come for us here it will be the bloodiest time that has ever been seen on this continent for if they do come they will come with overwhelming numbers and we have a large force already here and plenty more in a few hours march of us and then to take into condsideration the advantage of our breastworks it will take two to one to drive us from our position Then to take into consideration the high state of discipline and enthusiasm which now pervades this Army and the confidence they have in their leader Old Rosa, will make them as near invinsible as ever an Army was, and our wish is that if we have to fight them again that it will be here for we have no enxiety of marching after them again if we can help it. Day before yesterday we moved our camp nearer town and all the other troops did the same so that now we are formed in a solid mass immediately around the edge of the town and if Mr Longstreet, Johnson or Bragg should pay us a visit and succeed in driveing us back from our present lines then we can take to our fortifications at the rear of town and bid them defiance Our works are not yet completed but a large force is at work on them continually and they are being fast completed or at least so much so as to make them of vast amount of good to us .but to finish them completely as they are laid off it will take the present force which are now at work on them one or two months more to finish them. There is not the slightest indications of us moveing from here now for some time to come but then we do not know what a day may bring forth. One thing is quite sure and that is that quite a Strong force will remain here all summer but how many or who will be the lucky ones of course is not known. It is the opinion of many that their demonstrations in our front at this time is merely a feint to divert our attention while they make some other movement which if so will probaly be to try
