Murfreesboro Tenn April 5 1863 Mrs Sarah Davis My Dear Wife Again I have the pleasure of remitting you some money. We ware paid last night for the months of January & February and I have out of my wages paid up all the money that I borrowed in the Company and all the other debts that I owe in the Army and have kept enough to keep me going 4 or 5 months and then find I have $110.00/100 left which I send to you out of which you had better pay J.R. Phenis what you borrowed of him and then I want you to send to the city of Cin by some one and get me a Sword and belt That will take $20-00 or $25,00 more and then if you have any left more than you need for your own use you had better deposit it with either Scott & Burgess or the Port boys. It may be some time before we are paid again and you had better keep some where you can get at it if you should need it before I am paid again. I want a plain neat leather Scabbard infantry Sword and a black or blue belt and not to cost more than $20 or $25
