Heretofore preaching was generally held in the open air and nearly always in the sun and the consequence was that 50 men was a very large congregation at church but on Sunday there was preaching 3 times and at evry sermon there was from 300 to 400 present And again last night there was preaching and a big turnout. There was quite a little romance took place yesterday on the Stone River Battlefield which was nothing more nor less than a wedding. A young man of this Regt by the name of Hamilton has been detailed as nurse in one of the Hospitals in Murfreesboro and while there he fell in love with a young lady from Chicago who is here as volunteer nurse, and the feeling being reciprocated they concluded to marry and to make it romantic they went to the battlefield and ware married on the Spot where so many of the 15 Ind ware killed on the memorible 31 of Dec. 1862. Quite a number Officers ware at the wedding among who Gens. McCook and Roseau I got me a pass and a horse ready to go but Bill and Charlie ware both gone to town and did not get back in time for me to go so I was disappointed. I saw Eli Asborn yesterday evening. He is now mounted and is one of the escorts to Gen. Brannan. He tells me that Jim Abbott is dead The Army may have lost something by his death but I do not think good society is much the looser I subscribed for the Weekly Nashville Union for Six months and ordered it sent to you. I hope you will like to read it and also pass it around to your Butternut acquaintances
