I received my sword last Monday and I could not have been suited better had I selected it myself The Belt is excellent and I do not think there is a better blade in the Brigade and it cost me by the time I got it here just $21.75, and at least $15.00 less that what it would had I bought it here. Such belts cost here $6.00 and the sword from $27.00 to $30.00, so if it was a long time comeing it paid me to wait. I received a letter from Thom McKee today written the 8" inst but no particular news. But was most filled with flattery to myself such as your mother wrote to you. I also received one today from Cap McKinney. He was at Indianapolis when he wrote and had forwarded his Resignation which reached here today to be acted upon by the Commanders here. But it is not right so it will have to be sent back to him for correction so that it will be some time before he will get his papers all through. I feel sorry for him for he has to acknowledge at last that he has the Consumption and he appears to hate it so bad because he has to leave the Service. He had been to Dayton Ohio under treatment with a celebrated Dr. there but grew worse all the time and has now returned home quite much discouraged. Tell Nancy that I think she need not be so very proud of her boy but what she might put in care of Bill as some one els long enough to write me a few lines at least. Tell Ken Husted I have not saw that letter from him yet but if it does not suit him to write to me all right. Brother Dick did not extend
