Chattanooga Tenn Sept. 21 1863 Mrs. Sarah Davis My Dear Wife Yours of the 13th and H. Husteds and Lew Davis' of the same date all come to hand Yesterday and I need not say that the news they brought me was cheering and it is my honest conviction that I will be Successful in the end although I may be mistaken as you Know the Old Adge of Many a Slip between the cup and the lip But now is no time for me to talk of these matters for we are now in exciting times here and one that Should occupy my mind more than personal Political matters for a Nations interst is now at Stake.
