10 miles from Vicksburg - and were to go on the next day to the city - but that night got orders to come back to the bridge - we got here day before yesterday and there is every reason to believe we will stay here some time - the cars run from here to V. 3 or 4 times a day - it is only 12 miles by rail to V. I should not be one bit surprised if Will got a short leave of absence in August and we came up to Makanda to see you all so be prepared for us. Will says he wants to get some of Aunt Anns peaches & cream - and Uncle H cider, he has heard me say so much about it. Do they have any tame plums up there I wish thee would buy a bushel or so for me and dry part like Aunt does the peaches - and can the rest. I will pay all the expenses when I come - I want a lot of tame plums for next winter - Will says I am to live more
